Its bad enough they remade my all time favorite zombie movie Day of the Dead two years ago and called it Day of the Dead Contagion. Dont worry if you missed it, cause it was that fucking bad.
Now coming this spring is  the big budget remake of Day with Steve Miner (Friday the 13th, Friday the 13th Part 3, and Halloween H20 ). It stars Ving Rhames as Capt Rhodes, and Mena Suvari as Sarah.

Ok everyone out of the fucking pool on this bright fucking idea. Ving as Capt Rhodes? One of the things that was cool about the original Day was that Joe Pilato played Capt.Rhodes as an incompetent 3rd rate Eisenhower wannabe. Of course Ving isnt going to be doing that anytime soon. And Mena Suvari from American Pie as Sarah?
Whats worse is that this movie takes place in small town USA as a zombie outbreak is beginning . The original took place a couple of years after Dawn of the Dead ended on the zombie timeline in an underground facility that was set up to help find a cure . They found out there is none, and most of the movie is about the cabin fever of the survivors as they are faced with a total zombie takeover outside, and a more and more unstable situation inside.

I'm usually ambivalent on the topic of remakes. Some actually havent been that bad, and others were as good as the original.
Personally I know this is going to get me flamed but I preferred the TCM remake to the original, and thought the Dawn remake was almost as good. This one already reeks of colonblow though. Of course those that have been raised on Chucky movies and Scream will flock to this I'm sure
I love my horror but I think when this one comes out I'll be chillin in the living room watching the original on dvd.

There is one redeeming quality of this movie I guess. Great poster.

Calm down, it's not that bad. Hollywood has been fucking over every remake in existence since it's beginnings.

You know the cure to it? Go out, buy all of your favorite movies, on DVD, get a huge collection of horror flicks, and when shit like this happens, you can watch all those movies until the movie they are advertising finally leaves the theatres.

I kind of already did that.

While I'm on the topic of remaking movies for the 2nd and 3rd time
Night of the Living Dead is being remade as well. This makes number 3.

Then you know what you have to do, right?

Now, low and behold, the master plan!

Find a decent woman, bring her home, do whatever you like to do, cuddle up, get some popcorn, and watch them again. I don't know what to tell you other than, let's pray this isn't fucking horrible.

By the way, I like Ving's acting, outside of the zombie movies.

It actually wasn't a bad movie as far as acting goes all things considered.
I too prefer the originals but have never seen the Original Day of the dead.
That is going to change effective immediately!
I will say that it was a disappointing film.
And the only gripe I have with the remake of Dawn is this super zombie bullshit.
They are fucking dead, not infected with the rage virus. They are stiff with rigor and they are decomposing.
The slow zombies were scary enough because let's face it, in large numbers they own people.
I am going to look of day of the dead right now and hopefully I can stream the original rather than watching the bullshit I am watching.

Since all zombie movies are pretty similar why not just remake old ones?

Cuz the remake of Day was completely fucking different.
I watched a little bit of George Romero's Day and it was fucking awesome but the link must be fucked up cuz there are spaces in the movie so I stopped watching.

While the remake will never match the original in terms of narrative/feel. Just hope for a visually impressive film. I mean thats what I enjoyed about the Dawn remake.
