It's easy.  Asian horror doesn't explain everything thats happening.  They understand suspense.   They're good at building it and sustaining it.  Their movies take you on a fun ride and hopefully at the end of it, it gave you a few scares.  That's pretty much it, I think.  lol

He's a kid that's fallen into such insanity he's become sane in a different reality

At the end he realizes all the bad things that happen to all the others that surround him is because he didn't die when he was supposed to  and thus knowing that the jet engine would fall in his room he chose to go back in time in order to spare everyone the suffering that they would have experienced by his living those 28 days
