Criminal Injury Claims

Do you think Criminal Injury Payments are just? (I'm not sure how this works in America). If you get attacked, raped, robbed etc. No matter if the offender is caught and punnished or not you are able to claim Criminal Injury compensation (I guess payed for by tax payers). Do you think this is right? I for one have experienced this, I was attacked by 3 guys a good few years ago. They were never caught. I was told by the police to claim for criminal injuries so I could get a nice wee holiday out of it!!! I never claimed as I felt it was wrong and it would not ease anything that happened that night. You can get so much money per stitch, scar, broken bone etc. I do not agree with it. Any opinions?

But the tax payer ( like me and maybe 1.5 folk on this board) pay for it. Why should we pay for crime we did not commit?

You pay for schools you don't use, public parks and gardens you don't use, cleaning grafitti you didn't do, single parents you didn't knock up etc...etc...so why not? I think that if someone is a victim of crime and gets stabbed, or severely wounded, and can't go to work and look after their family then they should be compensated for it. I doubt the perpetrator would be able to pay for it, as mostly it's fuckin' neds, or junkies etc..so that leaves it up to the government. I guess they could make it so that people who are convicted of the crime has to pay the compensation back, but most of them are on the dole anyway, so once again you, (and Jeremy Kyle), would be paying for it. No win situation really.

Another thing I disagree with, which is part and parcel with the original topic is fuckin' compensation for injured soldiers!! Why? It's their job and they know the score (usually 3 - 0 to the Talliban), they know it comes with the territory. Why should they get compensation for injuries sustained on the battlefield? Can you picture a wee squadie getting his leg blown off and then thinking to himself "Nobody told me that was gonna happen... fuck!!!". It's ridiculous.

They serve their fucking country for hardly anything at all and often come home too fucked to do anything else.
They deserve disability just as much as a stock boy or a janitor who slip and fall and do themselves injury.

Whether it's right or wrong, doesn't matter. It's bullshit, though. You should not have to take money out of your pocket because another pair of idiots decided to get drunk and stab each other. Fuck it, throw them in a ditch and let them finish each other off. Every saves money, and two less fuckin' idiots are around.

A soldiers job is harder than a janitors.
They knew the score yes and so does a janitor, so if a janitor gets hurt at work by slipping on the floor he just mopped, he deserves insurance but a soldier doesn't?

Can you see the difference... If a janny mops a floor and then slips then it's his own fuckin' fault = no claim. If a soldier plants a landmine and then stands on it then he's obviously American = no claim.    If you have a legitimate claim then call (0800 - what a fanny - 666).

It's different... a soldier knows his job. Just like a stripper claiming for losing her clothes. We do not get hospital bills in the uk
