The Sci-Fi channel has changed its name to SyFy.  Along with the new name, and apparently a new image, comes the slogan "Imagine Greater."  But what does that mean?  Well, it appears it means cooking shows and reality TV.

I'm currently watching Stargate Universe. Some condemn the series. But it did make it for 10 seasons, brought back out of mothballs by fan demand. And then it spawned a 4 season spin off Stargate Atlantis. Based on the season premiere I think Stargate Universe has potential. It's darker and seems more character driven than SG-1. I've got a good feeling about this one. It's may be on par with the recent BSG.

It's still 8:23 here.  I'm going to be watching it in a bit.  It's on at 9.  I've never seen any of the other SG's.  I'm gonna give this one a try though.

The encore replay just finished. The premiere was two hours long. Since you've not seen the other two series I won't spoil it for you. Actually, this first episode is all about setting up the series and features some of the SG1 series. Just enough to provide continuity. But from this point on it's clearly capable of standing on its own.

Meh, it pisses me off that I pay for cable television. Specific channels have a "theme" and when they stray from that theme, it's just a mish mash of shit you can find on most channels.  I think there should be a way to pick and choose your platforms.  I do not and will not watch sports, yet I pay for about 8 channels of the shit.  erk  Sci-Fi was one of my favorites, and when I first noticed the change the other day, I thought it might have been an additional channel recently added. When I found out it was my beloved Sci-Fi, I was pissed.  It's egregious the way television can be in the first place, but with the prices we pay only to have it ALL go to shit, it's getting pointless to watch anything at all.

Yea it's called give your cable provider the boot. Get Netflix and an unlimited rental store pass. Watch shit online, too.

I can watch shit online, but it's sluggish and lags my computer so I don't.  However, Netflix is sounding pretty good, but I also love the History Channel, TLC, A&E, BBC America, and channels like those. I'm not going to nix cable just yet.

Almost the same channels I watch. History, Discovery, TLC, AMC, A&E, Fox, Fox News, Syfy, sometimes Cartoon Network.

I was thinking of getting a new cable package my provider offers which would add more channels including The Military Channel and History International.
