In accordance to the above principal, I suppose I follow the Glen Benton technique. But does he do it inhale or exhale? I can moderately produce grunts resembling Muhammed Suicmez, and as low as Karl Sanders', but through inhales lone (there normally is effect on chest but I don't know if I 'use' chest, or is it just an effect of my technique over chest!). I always wondered how vocalists do low notes through exhale breath-outs, but I could never really figure out the accurate process (I can make high-pitched screeches though!), noticing I'm not hurting myself. I'm quite alright with my current style, but I would love exploring newer ways. I know there are a lot of musicians doing such in this forum. Pls help!

use your diaphragm dude. the only thing that makes it different is using your throat muscle (you gotta keep it wide enough not to shred your throat of course.) and your tonsils to gauge the voice you are looking for. using your chest cavity is something that takes alot of work and practice, but i don't know much about that.

lol i'm a little late:P but here i am!!dude its more easy if you do chest exhales!!much more easy but then again you have to find the style that is ok for you
i passed from hardcore through gothic through doom through black through death and now i am seteled at brutal death gore and grindcore!!
i just found my own way!!but basically for all i do exhales and since i had my tonsils anymore cuz they were surgicaly removed i use my throat to change tones from high pitches to low!!and for the grindcore pig squeels i use inhale just cuz its allot easyer!!
but you gotta remember that the human body is made to addapt to everything that it is used for but.....in time!!so if you do practice every day you'll get it but IMPORTANT:don't overdo it!!that means practice and if you don't feel confortable stop and do it tomorow!!its all done in time!!
i heard some guys that inhales fuck youre throat but i took it slowly day bye day and my vocal cords adapted so they are just fine doing inhales!!
oh yeah and for those who say inhales are fucked up i have to say that i'm only 17 and my vocal cords cant reach the low gut sound of grind vocals yet so thats why i do inhales cuz that way it sounds the way i want!!and i like to strech my vocals to the max that means from clean  high shit as king diamond to clean low shit as sentenced and all the way to the grindcore vocals as dying fetus and cattle decapitation and so on!!!
so there is what i think
just find the way that works for you dude!!

yeah the diaphragm works more 4 me to but i like to diversify my styles to an very wide extent !!!they all work but i have days in wich one sounds better than the others
 oh yeah but try pinching a little throat in youre diaphragm growl and youll get a cool sound!!!its like 2 separate groels at once!!!
and try all new shit and combinations it'll get fun and cool!!

well if youre trying to do the shit from effigy of the forgoten then you need to put much more neck in that!!!cuz you gotta get the force from the chest and sound from the neck !!!im so very sick right now but i think i could do that after i get out of this stupid sickness!i have a terrible sore neck and my nose is runnin all the time!!
