I can understand that for hundreds of millions of people around the world, religion is a comfort, a source of hope and spirituality, and a guide. What I don't understand is why people feel the need to get together and compare notes on the subject. When people get together to 'practice' their religion they become easily manipulable. When people are taught to never question their beliefs, they remain ignorant and become pray to the dishonest, greedy, and power-hungry. There have been endless acts of violence and mass murder committed in the name of religion. A person's religious beliefs should be kept private and not shared or imposed on others because there is no way to prove or disprove a faith. People should always question their beliefs. Nobody's ideas can ever be perfect. Always leave room for doubt because when you're proven wrong, it comes as less of a shock if you were prepared for it rather than not. There's my two cents. Take it, leave it, or do whatever.

Organized religion is a way to keep order, if nothing else. Without people believing that their lives are actually worth something, they would go into a "sinful" rampage and care less for law and moral obligations. But, since they believe that there's something better after this pointless life, they will try to make their menial lives a 'path' of sorts to their religious kingdom by following religious law and morality. Thus, keeping a lot of violence in check.

Whats wrong with endless acts of violence and mass murder? Not that im admitting to promoting those things (which i might), i just want to hear someone say why theyre "bad." Without making circular arguments. Pretend I dont have alot of "common sense." Does every human have the right to have as many kids as they want and as much stuff as they want, until theres 50 billion people on a dead planet? For us to not want to kill eachother for resources, we have to be brainwashed into not wanting stuff. Unless we can just decide that we dont need stuff, but i dont see that being the trend in this civilization. They need to hurry up and make that fucking zombie virus plague. Thats my religion hahaha. Heres my sacred doctrine: STERILIZE EVERYFUCKINGBODY

Lulz, PC I love how you've taken over this thread on my behalf. I didn't know people would actually have anything valid to say in response O_O this is a rarity for SS. Thanks to The Arcane Devil and mothman for your responses.

mothman, if we sterilize everybody then we'll be a planet of old motherfuckers with no teeth O_O I say we just give everyone an IQ test and then sterilize/kill anyone with an IQ under 110 Smiley

You've pretty much got the concept down, though I'd like to add the fact that religion seems to be an excuse to have meaning in life for those who otherwise live meaningless ones. If you've not got the will to thrive on your own, the knowledge or strength to make it through this existence needing nothing more than "faith" in yourself...well, then it becomes easier to put your "faith" in a higher being than to accept the fact that you're weak.

Faith is a security blanket and you can't blame somebody for using the "word of God" to control the flock...you either do what you're told or you'll get a spanking and the security blanket "God" will be taken away.

I refuse to be involved in any form of organized religion, though I can't knock somebody for making a wise financial move...I blame the idiots who accept the false guilt and empty their wallets...

That's my 2 cents... smokin'
