Here's a nice little guide to help you deal with the intellectual elitists of Satanspace and those who continually try to degrade you. I "borrowed" this from Jess's topic as it, strangely enough, tells you exactly how to deal with them. With some additional modification to this you too can learn how to deal with these types of people

1. If you ask "What is wrong?" in response to a period of pronounced sighing or sulking and the answer is "Oh, nothing," simply say, "Okay". This is making intellectual elitist responsible for his own responses. In time it may make him actually admit that he is angry, and valuable progress may be made. As a bonus, you will not get sucked in to yet another round of Question and Answer Time, where you will ultimately lose.

2. Be direct and assertive of yourself. If you are angry, say so. If you are disappointed with the elite thinkers, let him know. Do not be sidetracked into using his language of vagueness and non-assertiveness. Insist on the language of reality. Bearing in mind, of course that the only reality is their reality thus you cannot ever have a reality.

3. Do not enter into a battle with the elitist; once you have done so, you have lost the war. The only person you can change in this situation is yourself, so you must approach each potential "battle" by suspending your own beliefs about the way your relationship with the elitst "should" be. You must accept that it is not going to be the way it "should be." Easy to say, hard to do, but necessary for your own mental health.Because the intellectual elitist will never see you as an equal and will always judge you by their standards and try to impose their vlaues on you

4. Observe the intellectual elitist's actions, not his words. Although he genuinely believes he does everything for other's interest and not his own, his actions speak louder than his words. Do not take his sugary platitudes at face value, it is only his actions that you should take note of. And in doing so you'll see they routinely attack the intelligence of any they consider inferior and resort to petty games, insults and name calling

5. Always give lots of positive feedback. The intellectual elitist  craves love, when he does genuinely perform well, heap praise on him. Technically this is a form of counter-manipulation, but honest praise is still honest praise. Be mindful the elitist likes to build around themselves a circle of fellow elitists and massage egos all day.

6. Avoid criticism. This will only elicit an endless stream of explanations, rather than what you want: an apology. Nor will there be any behavior changes. Accept that apologies or personality changes are almost impossible to come by with the intellectual elitist.This is because they are always right in all things and you will forever be wrong.

7. Do not waste your time attempting to explain to the intellectual elitist why his behavior is in error. It's easy to believe that at some point you will get through to him and he will experience the "Ah-ha!" phenomenon, and all will be well. This is particularly the case with people who are themselves very rational and logical. This process cannot work with intellectual elitist. Because they are infallible and in their minds and everyone else is inferior.

8. If you can't control your temper, avoid interacting with intellectual elitist. Your temper will be interpreted by him as further evidence of your abuse towards him, and further justify his own position as innocent martyr. Under these circumstances, it is better to keep your distance. Keep in mind even when avoiding him he will often seek you out, following behind every post he can use to launch an attack on you

9: Give it up. You will always be inferior. You'll never be able to be a free thinker if you don't conform to their "reality." Let the Wookiee win. They are always right.

I promised I wouldn't come back here but here I am posting in your topic Dennis. I couldn't help but to. I read this and how true it is!!!  I never ever challenged Jesse or WC in a debate because personally you can't....you will lose not because they are necessarily right just the fact they always see themselves as right. No offense Jesse, I think you are an awesome guy. Problem is everyone has to see your side of the fence or they start getting picked on. You picked apart a few of my post in the Pledge of Allegience topic. I stand by what I believed on that. As I am sure buggsie and Dennis stand by how they feel. I don't see why it is necessary to hound someone. That is just me *shrugs*.  Hope no hard feelings, but I couldn't help but comment. Dennis is a stand up guy and I will never see it any other way.

I saw he was doing that to you too Ang. The thing is, with him its pointless because as you said he always believes he is right, thus he cannot accept an opposing view or criticism. Has to demean those who he thinks are wrong. Which are always anyone who has an opposing view to his. That's why he and WC suck up so much. Two peas in a pod, made for one another. They'd be a good couple together.

I'm so sick of this elitist herd mentality people here have. Look if you don't like a person just say it once and move the fuck on. Don't go on and on about it for however long you remain on SS. You don't like me? Overlook me. You don't like Jenns? Ignore her. Father Cockpork? Try your best to overlook him. Jess? Suck a hickey on his ass or ignore him. Same for WC. Is it so important to you that you always have to fight with whoever it is you don't like here? I'm guilty of it too. Mostly with WC and Annette. But there are many I don't like and I just overlook them. This isn't high school. Most of us are adults.
