No, he wasn't evil. He was a loving man who preached happiness and universal harmony. The main doctrine of Thelema beyond 'Do What Thou Wilt' is that no two beings that are truly aware of their inner Wills can ever be in conflict. He doesn't deserve the evil reputation he has beyond the degree that he cultivated it for personal (publicity) reasons.

Not necessarily a pioneer.  There were many more before him.  He just happened
to be a flamboyant socialite and a raging womanizer. Hence the STD's, which were
well known and documented.  It's all in the Wikipedia.  BTY, Gypsy, have you read
