I am just interested to know how many individuals play the drums on this site, as well as other percussion instruments. If so, what kind of set do you have and/or different drums? Include heads and material. Also, what settings do you prefer? Racks? Stand alone? What is your favorite tuning applicable to each head? Answer away.

I play drums for a band.  We're sort of...Death Metal, but different.  I don't have any specific tunings or anything, and I've never had a formal (or informal, come to think of it) drum lesson, so everything is natural rhythm and learning by listening to songs and trying to play them.  So, all I can say is...

Jimmy Bower.  He is my drum idol.  heart

Just a cheap set, until I can get a new kit.  One bass drum, one snare, two toms, a ride, a crash, one set of hi hats and double bass pedals.

Socio was just laughing because the title of the thread is "For Dummers", and drummers are stereotypically dumb.
