They play music, and I assume they write their own material (or at least the lyrics). Are they artists? Yes (incredibly shitty ones). Did they rise to the point of fame and popularity they are at right now on their own? No.

they have a lable company i guess and their music is pure pop so any chick or mongrel can listen to it
