Ok, so as I work on doing siggies or any form of graphics over the next little while, I'm going to make tutorials out of them. That way people can grasp how Certain things are done, and be able to practice it themselves. Hopefully these help atleast a little.

Nice thread, dude.  I'll be watching this one and Demonda's thread, since I've been wanting to learn how to do this kind of stuff for a while.

Ok, this is the first one I've been working on. Was going to make it into a siggy for Masochistic, but the background image I chose seems to be made in a manner that colour cannot be altered without a grueling process I'm not interested in performing.

Step 1

Obviously You have to open the pictures you want to use into photoshop.

Step 2

Zoom in about 400% on the picture you wish to take a portion from. Go to the task bar on the left and right click the lasso tool. Switch it over to the polygonal lasso so you don't have to hold your left mouse button while cutting around the picture. Instead you just have to click at each checkpoint.

As a result, you'll have something similar to this when you're done cutting... Hopefully.

Step 3

At this point, you want to copy the piece you cut out, duh... And paste it onto your selected background picture. Don't forget, when pasting on a new picture, you have to select the area in which you want it to be placed.

Step 4

Now I decided to do a fade effect, don't ask why, it's just what came to mind. So once my piece is pasted, I move over to right side of the program where it shows layers. Click the layer for the item I just pasted, and select blending options. Now at the top middle section where it says "General Blending" you can change the opacity. Lowering the amount blends the pictures, so it gives a ghost effect. Example below.

Step 5

I continue pasting more copies of my cutout, changing the level of opacity with each one, and well... The result is below.

Step 6

Now I want to make it look like a button. So first off, you have to select the entire picture, and copy merged, or press ctrl+alt+c. now make a new project, and paste, this will merge the whole picture into one layer instead of being seperated. Now for the button effect, I simply go to the bottom right where the layers are, and right click my layer. Now in the styles box, click "Bevel and Emboss". If you take the time to make a colour border before doing this, it makes it look pretty kool, I myself just didn't want a colour one. Example below.

And now the final creation.

On my next addition I'll show you guys how to edit colours fast and simple. But if you have any other ideas. Feel free to post them. This thread will be messy for awhile, but once I have enough covered, I'll put together on tutorial on it all.

Now onto the colour editting. This is more writting then pictures, but believe me, it's quite simple. So let me grab a picture and we'll get started.

Now for the basics. We can go to the left tool bar and select the "Rectangular Marquee Tool". Using this all you must do is select the entire image. Once the image is selected, press ctrl+u, and a new menu will open. Your selections in this menu give you a bit to work with, but not enough to be complex.

Hue - Will adjust the primary colouring in the picture you selected.
Saturation - Will change the primary colours brightness.
Lightness - To make the picture lighter, or darker of course.

Now you can also click colorize at the bottom right of the box to change how the effects will apply. When doing so, instead of just changing the primary colour in the picture, it will adjust the colour to the entire picture. In the image below, I did not use the colorize option, so only the primary colour was adjusted.

Now of course, you don't have to colour the entire picture. If you'd like, you can use the polygonal lasso tool to cut out the portion you want to change colour. In the example below, I chose to edit just the moon.

And now... The final result. Excuse how badly the moon is done though, I rushed this, and didn't make even cuts.

Print Screen. Open new file, paste, cut the portion you want to show, put it in a new file.  Tongue

And now the final creation.

Thank you Smiley I'm going to come back to this thread to learn more and also use Demonda's thread as well.  I've always wanted to learn photoshop but just never took the time.

Hey Apple, do you think we could include Mystic's "work" in your section... does it really exist?  Can we capture it?
